We like: Silent, solidly constructed cabin; comfortable driver’s seat
We don’t like: Occasionally jarring ride on pockmarked road surfaces
I’m hoping that a planned long-distance weekend getaway in the final month of my ownership experience with this otherwise premium Mercedes-Benz will help me establish some connection with the EQE SUV. For several reasons – perhaps because a weekly school-run routine lies outside the intended purpose of a luxury all-electric SUV – I’ve struggled to truly resonate with this product. While the unsettled body control means this substantial-looking vehicle never quite manages to disguise its bulk on the road, the usable range of over 450 km per charge (thanks to its large battery, which also contributes to its weight) significantly enhances the ownership experience by reducing range anxiety during daily drives.

However, I’ve found the relatively small luggage compartment frustrating for a vehicle that belongs to the brand’s E-Class family (including the GLE), along with the large blind spots that complicate navigating morning school-run traffic. Additionally, the runner boards on this test unit have proven inconvenient, making unwelcome contact with the back of my calf each time I exit the vehicle.

On a brighter note, my young family continues to enjoy the EQE’s modern interior, featuring its large touchscreen, ambient lighting, and impressive audio system, which add to the novelty and appeal of this luxury EV.
