In a bid to broaden its local bakkie portfolio, GWM (Great Wall Motor) has launched the P300 LS derivatives, priced from a hair below R530 000. LS spec is available with the choice of two drivetrains — 4×2 and 4×4 — and employs the Chinese carmaker’s 135 kW/480 N.m 2.4-litre, four-cylinder turbodiesel engine, exclusively coupled with a nine-speed automatic transmission.
The LS-spec models are priced from R529 900 for the 4×2 derivative and R579 900 for the 4×4 variant, making these models R70 000 less expensive than the 4×2 and 4×4 LT variants, respectively — the latter of which we evaluated for a road test in the April 2025 issue of CAR magazine. As standard, pricing includes a seven-year/200 000 km warranty and seven-year/75 000 km service plan.
LS level of specification includes such items as 12.3-inch, touch-enabled infotainment, which incorporates Apple CarPlay and Android Auto screen mirroring; a 7.0-inch digital driver’s display; a six-speaker audio system; a reverse-view camera array; a leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel. LED headlamps, fixed sidesteps, and electrically locking load bay gate are included in the package. LS models ride on 18-inch alloy wheels.
