In 2025, CAR magazine put over 50 new vehicles through our stringent road test regimen. In this list, we highlight the most powerful vehicles that have graced our test strip, for features and road tests, in 2025.

7. Omoda C9 1.5T PHEV AWD Explore – 440 kW

The sixth most powerful vehicle we tested in 2025, the flagship Omoda C9 was also the most powerful Chinese vehicle that graced our test strip last year. The C9 PHEV’s plug-in hybrid powertrain produces a combined power output of 440 kW.

6. Land Rover Defender Octa Edition One – 467 kW

Tested in the November 2025 issue of CAR magazine, the apex Land Rover Defender’s (BMW-sourced) twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 engine is endowed with a healthy 467 kW, the full complement of which is available from 5 900 r/min. However, that powerful V8 is quite thirsty… With a fuel route figure of 15.7 L/10 km, the Defender Octa topped our list of least fuel-efficient vehicles CAR magazine tested in 2025.

5. Audi RS Q8 quattro performance – 471 kW

The Audi RS Q8 quattro performance’s 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 develops 471 kW, which allowed this 2 475 kg (tested) performance SUV to complete the 0-100 km/h sprint in 3.72 seconds on our test strip; making it one of the fastest-accelerating vehicles CAR magazine tested in 2025.

4. Aston Martin Vantage Coupé – 489 kW

Tested in the January 2025 Performance Issue of CAR magazine, the Aston Martin Vantage Coupé’s 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 develops 489 kW.

The the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S E Performance, with its 500 kW PHEV powertrain, is not only topped our list of fastest-accelerating SUVs CAR magazine tested in 2025, but also the fastest-accelerating SUV we’ve tested to date.
