As we highlighted in our Every bakkie confirmed for SA in 2026 feature, a raft of new bakkies – including the Chery Himla and Kia Tasman, along with the updated Ford Ranger lineup – will launch in South Africa in 2026. However, of the latter, the most highly anticipated bakkie is arguably the new Toyota Hilux, which made its global debut towards the end of 2025. And in the February 2026 issue of CAR magazine, we go into the details of this segment stalwart.

However, this isn’t the only Toyota featuring in our February 2026 issue. Indeed, we also detail the Japanese automaker’s upcoming new GR supercar, the GR GT, which has been confirmed for SA. We also take a closer look at the strikingly-styled, SA-bound new Kia Seltos, among several other new vehicles.

For the February 2026 issue, we also got in the driver seats of the new-generation Alfa Romeo Junior, Omoda C7, and updated Volvo XC60. We also sampled a German classic in the shape of a beautiful 1959 Mercedes-Benz 220S Cabriolet.

We then put a quartet of vehicles through our stringent test regimen. The latter includes the Land Rover Defender 110 D250, Leapmotor C10 REEV (range-extended electric vehicle), Jaecoo J5, and revised Renault Kiger.
