Bentley has unveiled its new S-badged Continental GT (coupĂ©) and GTC (convertible) models. The Continental GT S and GTC S are powered by a 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbo petrol-electric powertrain producing 500 kW and 930 N.m of torque. According to the British luxury marque, these figures are good for a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 3.5 seconds, with the top speed rated at 305 km/h. As mentioned, the powertrain is not an internal combustion-only (ICE) affair – it’s plug-in hybrid (PHEV). And the PHEV setup allows for a claimed electric-only driving range of 80 km.
The GT S and GTC S feature the Crew carmaker’s most advanced all-wheel-drive chassis system to date – the latter known as ‘Bentley Performance Active Chassis’. The setup incorporates active all-wheel drive; twin-valve dampers, front-to-rear; cross-axle torque vectoring; the firm’s 48 V Dynamic Ride active anti-roll system; new ESC software; and, making its debut on the S models, an electronic limited-slip differential and all-wheel steering.
The Continental GT S debuted in Blackline specification, distinguished by a dark lower front spoiler, and a gloss black grille and ‘Bentley’ badging and lettering. Adding to the grand tourer’s stealth exterior styling are Beluga black mirror housings, side skirts and rear diffuser. Dark-tinted windows and taillamps, and full LED matrix headlamps complete the look. While the 22-inch alloy wheels are finished in silver as standard, gloss black items are also available.
The cabin receives a two-tone upholstery, comprising piano black veneer and Tactile Dinamica fabric on key touchpoints, including the steering wheel, gear lever, “fluted” seats and door inserts. Optional high-gloss carbon-fibre trim adds to the Continental GT S’s sporty proviso, while other trim finishes are also available as an option. Full leather upholstery and dark-tinted chrome finishes on all interior brightwork are also available.
