In December 2025, Volkswagen revealed key details about the ID. Polo. Now, although the upcoming all-electric hatchback’s exterior remains wrapped in colourful camouflage, the German marque has “opened” the doors to this model’s cabin; showcasing how the interior of future VW models will look like.

“Our new interior architecture, starting with the all-new ID. Polo, elevates the customer experience to a new level: with clean lines, high-quality materials, and an intuitive operating environment with physical buttons and newly structured screens,” said Kai Grünitz, Volkswagen Brand Board Member for Technical Development.

The interior plays host to a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, which features retro graphics reminiscent of the Mk1 Golf’s instrumentation, and a 13-inch infotainment display. However, it’s not a digital-only affair. There are also physical buttons, including for operating climate, sited below the touch-enabled infotainment screen. Physical buttons can also be found on the multifunction steering wheel. A dial for operating audio is sited between the cup holders and smartphone tray. The cabin also features VW’s ID.Light interactive light strip.

Said Volkswagen Chief Designer Andreas Mindt, “We have created an interior that feels like a friend from the very first contact. Clear physical buttons provide stability and trust, warm materials make it appealing, and charming details such as the new retro views of the instruments show the typical Volkswagen wink.”

Grünitz added, “From the ID. Polo onwards, our next software generation will deliver noticeably more comfort and functions for our customers. This includes, for example, the third generation of Travel Assist, which will soon recognise red traffic lights and stop signs, as well as comfortable one-pedal-driving.”
