Engen Xtreme brings the energy to Killarney’s Extreme Festival opener

The National Extreme Festival fired back into life at Killarney International Raceway on 14 March, delivering the kind of action-packed opener that sets the tone for the season ahead. Loud, fast and full of edge-of-your-seat moments, it was everything fans have come to expect and then some. Right in the middle of it all was Engen Xtreme, adding its own spark to an already electric atmosphere and reminding everyone why motorsport is such a big part of South African car culture.

A proper day at the races

Killarney was buzzing from early morning, with thousands of fans turning up to catch the action. And the lineup didn’t disappoint. Whether you’re into the brute force of the Dunlop Extreme Supercars, the door-to-door action of South African Touring Cars, or the always entertaining Polo Cup, there was no shortage of on-track drama.

It wasn’t just about the big names either. Series like the Volkswagen Rookie Cup and Investchem MSA4 gave a glimpse into the future of local racing, with young drivers pushing hard to make their mark. Add in the SupaCup machines and the screaming ZX10 Masters bikes, and you had a full-on sensory overload in the best way possible.

More than just a brand

Engen Xtreme wasn’t just there for show. Their activation space gave fans a chance to get up close with the brand and learn a bit more about what goes into keeping engines running at their best, whether on the track or in everyday traffic.

Motorsport is about as tough as it gets for an engine, so it’s the perfect place to prove what a product can really do.

“Engen Xtreme delivers premium protection in a proudly South African product,” said Melissa Graham from Engen’s lubricants team. “Events like this are a great way for us to connect with people who genuinely care about performance and to show how our products hold up when it matters most.”

Why it matters

What really stood out at Killarney wasn’t just the racing, it was the vibe. There’s something special about a local motorsport crowd. It’s passionate, it’s knowledgeable, and it genuinely appreciates everything from top-tier GT machinery to grassroots development racing.

That’s exactly the space Engen Xtreme fits into. By supporting events like the Extreme Festival, the brand isn’t just talking about performance, it’s backing the community that lives it every weekend.

If this is how the 2026 season starts, we’re in for a seriously good year. With Engen Xtreme along for the ride, there’s clearly no shortage of energy behind it.
