Named for legendary Italian racing driver Tazio Nuvolari, Audi has unveiled the Nuvolari, the German marque’s first high-performance hybrid supercar and the most powerful production Audi to date. Production will be limited to just 499 examples, with deliveries set to begin in the first half of 2027.
The Nuvolari’s powertrain combines a high-revving 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 internal combustion engine (ICE), which delivers 588 kW and 730 N.m, with three axial flux electric motors, fed by a 7.3 kWh (gross) lithium-ion battery, producing 110 kW each. The petrol-electric setup develops a combined power output of 736 kW. Producing up to 2 150 N.m of torque, two of the axial flux electric motors are positioned on the front axle, while the third is located between the mid-mounted V8 and the transmission. Drive is sent to all four wheels via Audi’s latest quattro system. The Ingolstadt brand claims the Nuvolari completes the 0-100 km/h sprint in a whip-crack 2.6 seconds, before topping out at 350 km/h.
Under the skin, the mid-engined hybrid supercar features Audi’s Space Frame (ASF) architecture, paired with a carbon-fibre exterior finished in the firm’s new signature body hue – “Titanium”. Forged centre-lock wheels also make a debut on the Nuvolari. The Formula 1-inspired active aerodynamics system includes a front splitter, S-duct, adaptive rear wing and rear diffuser. Additionally, an F1-style drag reduction system (DRS) can be activated to reduce drag and increase speed.
Inside, the cabin is an amalgamation of digital displays and physical controls, while HMI colour accents reference the historic Auto Union Type C racecar. The interior is split into two segments: a dark front section focused on the driver and a lighter “Shadow Dune” rear section for the passenger. Lightweight seats featuring carbon-fibre seatbase and backrest structures, together with anodised aluminium trim, complete the interior.
