The sonorous naturally aspirated V10 from the Huracan has been put to pasture in the Lamborghini stables, but the Temerario ushers in a completely new era for the Italian automaker, with a model that promises to be in a complete league of its own. All marketing jargon aside, this all just means that the High-Performance Electrified Vehicle (HPEV) makes up for any lost cylinder count and displacement. The Temerario features a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 plug-in hybrid setup, coupled with three electric motors. This powerhouse delivers a 676 kW, propelling the Temerario from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds, with a top speed of 340 km/h.

Lamborghini developed the new V8 engine specifically for the Temerario, featuring a 90-degree “Hot V” configuration and a flat-plane crankshaft. The engine is equipped with two turbochargers running at a maximum pressure of 36 psi, while cast aluminium alloy cylinder heads and titanium connecting rods help reduce weight. The valvetrain includes Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coated finger followers, allowing the engine to reach up to 10 000 rpm.

Complementing the V8 are three oil-cooled, axial-flux electric motors. One motor is placed between the engine and the eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox and two other motors, located on the front axle make the Temerario an all-wheel-drive vehicle. For those seeking extra excitement, the Temerario features a “Drift Mode,” directing torque to the rear wheels with three power levels, along with a launch control function.

The battery pack in the Temerario has a capacity of 3.8 kWh. It can be charged using a traditional AC port with up to 7 kW of power, recharging in 30 minutes, or through regenerative braking and the V8 engine in as little as 6 minutes. While the front electric motors can be used exclusively for driving, Lamborghini has not yet disclosed the EV driving range.

The Temerario Alleggerita lightweight package is available at launch for those seeking even greater performance. This package includes a larger rear wing, unique bumper treatments, and carbon fibre rims, resulting in a 158% increase in downforce over the Huracán Evo and a reduction in weight compared to the standard Temerario. The optional Carbon Pack further reduces weight by an additional 4 pounds through carbon fibre elements on the rear diffuser, mirror caps, and side air intakes.

The Temerario features a new lightweight chassis made entirely of aluminium, replacing the Huracán’s mixed aluminium and carbon-fibre build. This new chassis reduces material usage by 50%, decreases heat-welded joints by 80%, and increases torsional rigidity by 20%, all while keeping the weight down.

Inside, the Temerario’s cockpit-style cabin is designed with hexagonal elements throughout. Headroom and legroom have increased marginally, making it spacious enough for taller drivers with helmets. The interior includes an 8.4-inch vertical touchscreen in the centre of the dash, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster for the driver, and a 9.1-inch touchscreen display for the passenger.

Lamborghini South Africa has confirmed with CAR Magazine that the model is expected to arrive in local showrooms in the first quarter of 2026 with the configurator already open to the public. Pricing will be available closer to market introduction.
