CEO Linda Jackson emphasized the brand’s dedication to creating an electric future, not just to comply with regulations but as an ethical and societal responsibility. “We are not doing this just because regulations require it. It is a deep commitment, both ethical and societal, to which I attach great importance,” Jackson stated, underscoring Peugeot’s long-term vision.

On display at the show is the full lineup of Peugeot’s electric vehicles, making it the most comprehensive offering from any mainstream European manufacturer. As a reminder, Peugeot offers the E-2008, E-308, E-3008, E-5008, E-408 and E-208 model ranges for buyers shopping for zero-emissions mobility. In addition to this was the global premiere of the Peugeot E-408, completing a range of 12 all-electric vehicles, which includes nine passenger models and three commercial vehicles. With the ‘E’ prefix placed before the familiar nomenclature of the model lineup, Peugeot has forged forward on the path of offering electrified versions of existing models which makes EV adoption more seamless.

At the Paris Motor Show, the Peugeot E-3008 and E-5008 SUVs impressed with their long-range capabilities, offering 700 km and 668 km of electric range, respectively which are some of the best in the segment and market. The integration of ChatGPT in the E-3008 and E-5008 models marks a leap forward in in-car technology for the French automaker too. The AI chatbot enhances user experience by providing real-time information, travel recommendations, and even entertainment during journeys. In addition, Peugeot also introduced the 9X8 Hybrid Hypercar, which will compete in the 2024 World Endurance Championship, showcasing the brand’s expertise in both electric and hybrid technology.
As part of its electric push, Peugeot launched the Electric Promise. This new initiative guarantees all-electric customers an 8-year/160 000 km warranty on both the vehicle and the battery. Additionally, the package includes a home wallbox and access to 800 000 charging points across Europe via the Free2Move Charge service. This promise, as well as almost all of the electric vehicles mentioned above are not expected to hit South African shores anytime soon with slow adoption rates locally.
