Showcased at Goodwood Festival of Speed 2025, to create Urban Automotive’s first soft-top, the British tuning company enlisted the help of Heritage Customs in the Netherlands. As a result, this short-wheelbase convertible SUV is based on the Dutch firm’s limited-edition Heritage Valiance, which notably showcases Urban Widetrack styling.

The Urban Widetrack Heritage Series Soft-Top makes a bold impression with its semi-electric folding roof, which opens to reveal the car’s roll-cage. Exterior styling tweaks include extended wheelarches, an XRS-style vented bonnet with carbon-fibre vents, and matching carbon-fibre mirror caps. Additional carbon-fibre detailing adorns the ‘Best of British’ side vents.

At the front, designers added lower canards and daytime-running lights to sharpen up the modified Defender’s facia. Finishing off the bold aesthetic is a set of 23-inch Urban WX-2 R black alloy wheels, wrapped in Yokohama Advan Sport tyres.

Inside, the cabin retains its five-seater layout and now features a Hermanes Orange leather, with Recaro bucket seats fitted up front. To complete the bespoke interior, the team applied the custom Heritage Series overlay to the dashboard.

This collaboration between Urban Automotive and Heritage Customs has produced a beefed up Land Rover Defender 90. Notably, the latter brand was the first to convert a Land Rover Defender into an, ahem, convertible – the entire transformation completed in-house.

This model serves as a cornerstone for both Urban Automotive and Heritage Customs. Each brand manufactures its own parts and takes pride in crafting bespoke vehicles that push the boundaries of design and individuality.
